This type of Stoneham PD "response" seems to happen all to often with no details basically conveying a Thanks, but no thanks" attitude. Perhaps they misunderstood and think this communication forum is called SeeClickClose??

What? Who painted the lines? I am sorry but that is inappropriate. Sidewalks are for pedestrians! If a car has to put 2 tires on a sidewalk to help with the flow of traffic but anymore that that is a definite violation. Come winter time Summer St is a plowed sidewalk and these cars will still be illegally parked.

You don't have to wait until winter. They are illegally parked now.

I am well aware the cars are parked illegally however there are others who see no problem with keeping cars safe over pedestrians. My point being if they continue to park on the sidewalks, even though there is no overnight parking from 12/1- 4/1, the sidewalk plow has to get through.

If they are there in the winter maybe if they get damaged they will learn

Hello Kathleen. I know you are aware these cars are parked illegally now. I should have put a :-) after my comments so you know I wasn't being sarcastic towards you. I am aware of the hard work you put in around town all year, rain sleet and snow. :-) thanks for the hard work you put in keeping Stoneham looking nice and keeping an eye on the welfare of the citizens :-)

I am not sure which property these vehicles belong to. If they belong to the house that they are parking in front of, there is a large driveway on the left. If that does not provide enough space there is plenty of room in the front of the house to add additional parking. If this is a rental property, the landlord needs to be made aware of the situation and provide adequate parking for the tenants. If this is a private residence , the home owner needs to take necessary steps to provide adequate parking. There is enough space on the property that there is no reason that residents of this address should be parking on the sidewalk. I noticed the homeowner next door has the decency to pull up onto his front lawn instead of leaving his car on the sidewalk. Homeowners all over town take measures to construct adequate parking for their residence. If you cannot afford to pave , then park on the grass. A lot of folks do not have paved driveways. In any case, get off the sidewalk. Your car does not belong there.

I have been watching this issue and noticed there has been no official resolution, or at least an official comment or acknowledgement.
Sometimes it appears that verified officials whose responsibility it is to respond, just hope you forget about a problem and go away.
It often appears that residents take this forum more seriously than do town officials and department managers.

A light-hearted sarcastic tone to the original post does not negate the fact that this is a serious safety issue and a violation of town code. It would seem absurd to suggest that an official, who is in charge of Public Safety, would ignore a situation because they got their feelings hurt as a result of somebody adding a little humor to the post to make a point. I prefer to believe our professional Police Department is far above that, and is still investigating the best way to approach this issue. I would assume our AWESOME Police Department handles a lot more rough situations in the routine performance of their difficult job, then to be dissuaded from helping out in a situation like this because somebody felt they did not like the tone of the post.

I must agree with Mike. I think our Police Department is well able to handle a little joking around. I think PC2.0 needs to give our Men and Women in Blue a little more credit for the outstanding job they are able to do. It's hard to imagine that PC2.0 things a police officer or other official, should be fired for doing their job, just because the situation was a little less than ideal.

I guess when you have nothing intelligent left to add to the conversation, you just blurt out some garbage! The bottom line is there are laws against parking on the sidewalk because that is where people walk. Whether you are on foot, in a baby stroller, or in a wheelchair, I don't see what difference that makes. If you do not like the law restricting vehicles parking on sidewalks, then please petition the town to change it. Or you can go on being a self entitled person you are, deciding which laws you would like to follow, and which ones you do not.
No wonder the police have their hands full dealing with people who selectively choose to obey the law or not.

If you think that question has anything to do with intelligence, you deserve each other. We live in a town, not a totalitarian society. Parking with two wheels on the sidewalk has been accepted practice for years, and it isn't going to change because of you whiners.
Yes, if someone consistently blocks the whole sidewalk, they need to be corrected. But most of the parking on the sidewalk complaints here are nitpicking get-a-life whiners.

This picture is from the original post. I agree that while sometimes you need to pull off the road a little bit, that does not seem to be the case here. I don't think this situation qualifies as putting a couple wheels on the edge of the sidewalk, if you look at the space left for pedestrians.

I see both situations around town quite often. Cars that completely block the sidewalk and cars that pull up a little to get off the street. I think the nitpickers frustration comes from seeing the same cars completely blocking the sidewalk on a regular basis. These are the situations that should be addressed here. Maybe if there was more of an effort to crack down on the flagrant violations of completely blocking the sidewalk, people would not be so frustrated to point out every minor violation.

I think the bottom line is that people would like to be able to walk down the sidewalk and passed safely without having to walk into the street.

Not only do these cars continually park illegally blocking the sidewalk, now one of them is facing in the wrong direction. It seems like whoever lives here has no regard for Public Safety and feels for some reason, that the police will not bother them. Can we please get a response from a verified official.

I have not been in agreement with much of what PC2.0 has posted here, but I must say I am in total agreement on something he said in another post. His comment was:

By looking at the Integrity of these two illegally parked cars, it's easy to judge the politician being supported.
