Stepping for Stoneham

  • Stoneham Stoneham, Massachusetts - Stoneham
My daughter in Melrose just forwarded me a letter she received from the Mayor of Melrose stating Melrose is not being affected by the eColi detected in Stoneham's water! Sure enough, I went to the Stoneham website and a Boiling Water Alert was issued by Stoneham DPW today! I further looked in vain for where I could register my email address with the Town of Stoneham for just such alerts as our household,(as well as many ) is totally mobile and do not use a land line. Email would be much quicker and more effective. I also see a SeeClickFix link right on the Stoneham website so why couldn't DPW at least get a start posting an alert there??
  • 10 Avon Street Stoneham, Massachusetts - Stoneham

Just witnessed a Stoneham DPW truck backing out of the driveway at 13 Avon Street and straight across the street completely knocking over the fire hydrant in front of 10 Avon Street. A white pick-up quickly showed up to take away the destroyed hydrant and left an orange cone over the pipe sticking out of the ground.

My question is why there never was any water shooting out of the pipe? Now wondering if this incident exposed a problem of no water to that hydrant rendering it useless??

  • 57 William Street Stoneham, Massachusetts - Stoneham
Not sure if this is a health issue, but it's certainly a safety issue. The Capen Street playground has a busted up sandbox where the framing boards have been ripped up exposing nails. With toy trucks and tools around kids are obviously using the area. Additionally, the rest of the playground could use a cleaning and fresh layer of mulch to cover the remaining playing areas.
  • Intersection Of Elm And Washington Streets Stoneham, Massachusetts - Stoneham
This intersection is a tricky one for cars entering from Washington. It's even worse for pedestrians with no signs indicating a crosswalk because the painted crosswalk lines faded away years ago?
  • Corner Of Washington And Avon Streets Stoneham, Massachusetts - Stoneham
The storm drain at this corner is clogged covering the street with a 12-15 foot wide pool of water. Happens with every good rain or fast snow melt.
