Thank you for your support for the Edgewood Mall Rain Garden Project! Rain gardens are a cost effective solution to reducing stormwater runoff. The plants, mulch and soil help to filter out pollutants while absorbing and infiltrating rain water--which help to reduce runoff and combined sewer overflows downstream.The two rain gardens installed along Edgewood Avenue will help to reduce pollution to the West River. The construction of the rain gardens are the result of a collaboration between Save the Sound, the City of New Haven Engineering Department and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Trees--and the invaluable support of neighbors, community members and others who volunteered to construct the gardens and plant over 400 native perennials! We hope to install more rain gardens and other green infrastructure throughout the city. Your support will help make this possible!
