If everyone exercised a little common sense coupled with a little consideration, a lot of these issues could be avoided!

It would be nice to see city vehicles play by the same rules the rest of us must abide by.
I have routinely seen (and reported) a Board of Ed and a Parks department car parking on sidewalks and in front of fire hydrants in East Rock, but never been contacted or had any follow-up from the city on what they are doing to curb abuse of power.
I understand that they view it as a minor issue and one that doesn't merit public feedback, but I can't appreciate that point of view--if we have laws against parking in certain places, it seems bizarre that those laws apply unevenly.

Pothole on Long Wharf Drive New Haven, Ct Closed

This is a tech glitch I've pointed out before. Issues posted at addresses from various parts of town frequently end up on the map @ Church & Columbus.

Lucy,
Just checking that this issue is placed properly. I see the address as 600 Long wharf but the location seems to be centered on Church.
Can you confirm? Thanks.

It needs to be fixed!! It is right around the curve so there is no way to avoid it if you are already in that lane and are not aware that it is there! It is VERY deep and still there today 2/1/12.

Why don't some community members put together a Complete Streets Project Request for this intersection? http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/Engineering/pdfs/CS-Project%20Request%20Form.pdf
Martha Smith 1 day ago
Humphrey Street, between State and Whitney is a prime candidate for a SAFE STREETS redesign. It is a major thoroughfare for people walking, biking and driving to Yale and downtown. Pedestrian crossing light timing and potholes making bicycling dangerous are a couple of things that have been pointed out already on click fix. Why is there a painted bike lane only on one side of the street? A bike box at the Humphrey and Orange street intersection would make it much safer for bicyclists coming down Humphrey from Yale who want to turn onto Orange. Currently it is a much traveled intersection for bicyclists, but difficult to negotiate--encouraging bicyclists to bust through red lights because it feels safer to get through the intersection when they aren't competing with cars.

Thanks for feedback on the status change. Its only suggesting that as you said the word fixed :)
Probably don't want to do that until the its fixed. You can hit the close button on the issue page when that happens.

Stay on 'em, Ben. Before long, it'll take two hands to count the number of incidents in front of L'Orcio. Without any lighting at all, that overpass is an open invitation to burglars and muggers.
This HAS to be fixed -- and NOW.
(BTW, the dialog box suggests I might want to change the status of this issue. Problem is figuring out how to do that and what the consequences are....)

i agree this is VERY important, especially in light of recent increases in burglaries and muggings. (pun intended.)

Nothing has been done about this problem. Tonight I had to call the police because a car was blocking the driveway for over an hour. The police came but no ticket was issued. Would it be possible to get the "do not block driveway" sign reinstalled? What can be done?

The owner lives right in that building, the 4 or 5 story brick apartment complex.he comes out and moves them from one side of the street to the other, obeying all street sweeping edicts etc. Definitely filled with junk, the scrap yard is drooling over them for the weight, they would much prefer if the owner cleans the cars out first

Yes, and they occupy valuable on-street parking spaces. Should they even be able to obtain a residential sticker?

take a minute for the resident to sweep away, and 3 minutes to complain on the site
take 30 minutes for the city to send someone there to clean and every one pays more tax to cover the cost

it's all over their sidewalk and their lawn-the HO should take care of that. The city can sweep the street, which isn't the real hazard.

Why is it the homeowners responsibility? Why doesn' t the city take care of this?

I've seen it- is there a reason the homeowner doesnt clean up his own sidewalk?? I guess that's too much to ask.....
