This debris is happening all over New Haven, Court Street too in Wooster Square. Its become normal for out-going tenants to leave bulk trash-type items when they move out!
Thanks DPW. Is there a way for the city to remind landlords of the resources available to their tenants - and any obligations they may have - to avoid this problem in the future? Every weekend, it seems that there is furniture, old tvs and general garbage associated with moving all around the park and in the Square. Some of the items are collected by private individuals but many others sit, are rained on and slowly deteriorate until someone bothers to call DPW.
It is an on-going education issue. We have information plus brochure on our website if you follow this link ( http://cityofnewhaven.com/PublicWorks/trash/BulkTrash.asp) but unless people are actively seeking information (landlords too) it often remains passive information. We need to keep publicizing it. thanks
