BJG, a lot of the women in Fair Haven that I've seen appear to be on drugs and/or drunk or badly in need of a fix. How do you know she was pimped? I don't mean to be rude, but you make a lot of assumptions about the prostitution problem in Fair Haven. Yes, sexual slavery does exist; yes, some women and men are pimped out; but many of these women have habits that they are sadly, individually trying to support through trading sex for either whatever substance they want or money. It doesn't make it any less tragic, but it's a different issue altogether.

This is a perennial issue along Ferry, north of Grand. The police do not seem to care about it, and the residents surrounding the area do not mind either. Its the blind leading the blind out there, and there are plenty of excuses (e.g. poverty, addiction, abuse, etc.) This part of town needs serious attention.

New Haven, Hartford and Washington, D.C. are full of the sleaziest, filthiest, prostitutes - politicians!

BJG, first of all, I want to make the distinction that two different "Fair Haveners" posted here. I am the first, who posted as a guest. Secondly, I don't target you. You comment on things that I receive notices about because they apply to me and my community and, when I disagree with you, I respond politely. Unlike you, I do not attack people that I disagree with on SCF.

I've seen the same two women out on front street today. They were picked up a few months ago but have made there way back.

Ferry Street is infested with prostitution and always has been. As a nearby resident I can tell you we are all fed up with it. Drugs are at the root of the problem and the problem will continue for as long as the police allow it to. I have attended multiple meetings where the issue was addressed and no clear solution has been offered. The advice of "call and report it to the police" is completely ineffective. What do you propose is the solution to the problem?

There is no solution the police obviously do not care about Fair Haven

NHPD has to do something about it, they are out in ferry and Chapel street at all hours. Now I seen a lot of young drug addicts on Chapel be careful, because they are all friendly but unfortunately they have an addiction.

I do care about neighborhood.. But I feel I'm alone in this big issue
Call police means wait forever .everybody knows which houses make drugs beside the police...why they don't want to do nothing?!?,NO IDEA
If somebody can give any idea what else we can do to help improve this neighborhood would be great
No EVERYONE in fair haven are criminals
There are a lot of people with honesty and very hard workers

I think that if this were happening near the Green or on the corner of Orange and Humphries, there would be immediate police action and much resident uproar and indignation. But because it is here in Fair Haven, the powers that be and NHPD are happy that it is contained to a place that apparently doesn't deserve the same safety and security as the folks in East Rock. A tale of two cities, continues...
