  • Blake And Osborn New Haven, Connecticut - Beaver Hills

Yesterday, 6/16/13, at approximately 950am, while driving on Blake Street, I encountered a child, no more than 6 years old, riding a mini "toy" dirtbike, all over Blake - in the middle of the road, as well as on the sidewalks. No guardian could be located. Now let's be clear, when I say "toy," I do not mean some plastic play bike that a child might be required to pedal or Flintstone. I mean a miniature motorized dirtbike - simply a smaller version of the dirtbikes we frequently see on New Haven's streets and roads.

Again - this was a YOUNG CHILD, not a teen! Unsupervised, but even if the child had been supervised, what kind of guardian/parent allows their kid to ride something tiny like this in the middle of the road??? The safety issues are harrowing for drivers, as well as for this poor child, who just thinks he's "playing," and who has no doubt seen all of the dirtbikers "having fun" riding. This is how dirtbikers and ATV'ers are influencing our very young children.

Does anyone living on Blake or surrounding streets know this child and their parent?

3 S&S grocery carts at this address. I called S&S and asked if they pick these up. They put me on hold for 5 minutes, so shall I assume the answer is NO?!

Across from the Jewish cemetery, on the side of the road near Edgewood Park. (I used the Mobil address for map purposes.)

  • 1185 Whalley Ave New Haven, Connecticut - Amity

I used the address for Bill's Carousel, but the tv is actually up the road farther, toward Amity. Just before the rock wall starts on the right hand side of Whalley. TV dumped downhill, but still accessible for removal.

The Mobil station here is undergoing renovantions, perhaps one of their trucks rammed into this sign? The sign is blowing in the wind, only one of its "legs" is still grounded.

This intersection has recently seen some improvement, with a new bus stop, island, etc. But crossing from this corner to Lawncrest or Field can be dangerous, depending on time of day and traffic flow. Are there plans for pedestrian signals here?

What is the plan for the island? Many of these trees have been removed or died, some due to age, but surely also due to previous neglect. When will the removed trees be replaced with new trees? Will any of these trees remain or will they all be replaced? We would like to see more ornamentals on the island.

I had previously reported the tree across from this location (2 Roydon), but now the tree at this location - 266 Goffe St - has lost a large limb.

I hope LCI is knocking on doors as they pick up, as at least some of these dumped items must be from landlords/residents. Or, perhaps you can place notices on doors/in mailboxes letting people know where they should properly dump the items.

I had previously suggested placing plastic newspaper bags in these dispensers, but apparently the City felt otherwise. In that case, please fill.

At the corner of Blake and Austin, there is a sludge overflow (sewage? It reeks!) onto the sidewalk. This corner is a mess in general, with an uprooted metal pole on landowner's property, and a small pond of sludge on the lawn. The city may have to contact the apartment complex owner to resolve.

  • 2 Roydon Rd New Haven, CT - Beaver Hills

The tree is across from 266 Goffe St, near the corner of Goffe and Osborn. The actual home address is 2 Roydon - the tree lines the side of that property. Tree is losing its bark. Its "insides" are exposed. Sad to lose another of New Haven's oldest trees, but there is obviously no way to save it.

  • Whalley And Ella Grass Blvd New Haven, CT - Edgewood

Well, it used to be a can of spray paint, but now they're moving on up! Street gang calling themselves Blvd Boyz, having raked in enough money from drug and hooker sales, have designed and purchased their very own posters, and now they are plastering them all over. The telephone pole at this intersection is covered halfway up (must have been a short gang member) with their territorial pissings. I mean...postings.
