Deskripsyon

We have a major problem in our neighborhood of people not picking up their dog poop. Some people (myself included) do, most people don't. The sidewalk next to my house is like a minefield, and there is always poop left next to our house's cars. It seems that people are worse about it in the winter, as if the poop is just going to disappear when the snow melts. This issue needs to be resolved, because it is disgusting and the negligent dog owners are being disrespectful to the rest of their neighbors.

I've noticed the same problem. My dog and I walk from Sherman, down Maple, and then take Edgewood home. There are at least 6 or 7 piles of poop right outside homes, on sidewalks, and in the streets.
All one has to do is bring a few plastic bags from the grocery store with you on your walk and there are public trash cans all over. Of course you could just man up and carry it home to dispose of it. Picking up poop is part of having a dog for a companion. I'm not sure if people are lazy or they don't know any better. Either way, I agree It's a big problem!

Isn't there a fine for not cleaning up after your dog? Even if it's not enforced it might be helpful if there were signs stating that. I've see signs like that in other cities, so what would it take to get some around here?

I agree, signs are a good idea. But not just city signs, all homeowners should place signs on their lawns and properties to let people know of the laws, that they are being watched, and will be reported. If you have video surveillance, you can provide a printout of the offenders to the NHPD when you make a complaint. Try following them home, and then you have an address for the NHPD to act on. But some people don't even walk their dogs, they just let them out to poop all over the city. It's disgusting.
