Well, they did the "traffic study" for the intersection of Kneeland Rd. and Hervey St. for the STOP signs for Kneeland Rd. One day two city trucks came by, the guys got out, looked around at the corner- this was AFTER the strips across the road were removed- got on the phone and then LEFT! NO ACTION SINCE! That was over a MONTH ago!
MAYBE as we get closer to election, everyone will come out of the woodwork looking for votes! I can't wait! There's going to be BIG changes in New Haven- for better or worse- but BIG changes! BYE, BYE incumbents!

Have you considered working with your local Aldermen & neighbors to submit a "Complete Streets Request Form"? They are available at http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/Engineering/completestreets.asp.

New Haven's Complete Streets manual has been widely recognized as one of the best in the country, but requires ongoing public pressure -- I believe that getting these types of public requests on the official record, alongside similar requests from the many other neighborhoods within New Haven, will help provide an impetus for the city improve the safety of roadways over time. The requests will be documented in annual reports and implementation (or lack of) can be tracked each year by our neighborhoods.

WHY should it be necessary to go through an ACT OF CONGRESS to get two stop signs erected? That's all politicians like to do- studies, paperwork, votes etc. JUST DO IT!

I also wasn't aware there was already a post about this from a year ago (it didn't come up when I initially posted a few months back). Thanks for pointing this out.

My concern about the "traffic study" they did several weeks ago is that it was during a particularly stormy week so there was much less traffic than usual. It was not an accurate representation of the amount and speed of traffic with the joyriders and people cutting through to and from the park.

Cars STILL going through the STOP signs on Hervey St. STILL NO STOP signs on Kneeland Rd. at this location! Maybe once a tragedy happens, the signs will go up! Certainly every city department in charge of this has been notified and "studies" done, but STILL NO action as expected for the East Shore residents!

STILL NO STOP SIGNS! One MORE example of how the EAST SHORE is treated! If this was the INNER CITY, the signs would have been up YEARS ago, but the people who pay most of the bills for the city get IGNORED! Actually, it's NOTHING new!

I respectfully disagree with the closing of this issue and the title of "no service request." We have filed numerous complaints and requests for some form of signage (additional stop signs, signs indicating it is only a two way stop, etc.). I have even completed the LCI forms (almost 2 years ago) explaining how this is a necessary change needed. Closing this request also removes the history and longstanding efforts of our neighbors to obtain assistance from the city with this issue. I think it is appropriate to keep this issue open until something is actually done and not because the requests have existed prior to 2013.

I have to agree with Meg. IF this is how Washington works, I can see why NOTHING ever gets done! This issue has become a JOKE because it seems as if the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing! HOW MANY times does this have to be reported, reviewed, closed, opened, reopened etc.!

the city has a bunch of people sitting around closing and acknowledging issues instead of doing something to fix them, I can only imagine it will get worse with Harp in charge. time to move, this BS is over the top crazy.

(Just saying) this will be the last time ..we already started doing a little enforcement , sorry you havent seen it. But being realistic we cant be there everyday to satisfy you, sorry. As it gets warmer we will try to be there more often.

I don't think we were asking for any enforcement even though that would be nice. We know this part of the city is often slighted because you are on the other end of town where you are desperately needed! All we want is TWO STOP SIGNS! You would be amazed at how many people ONLY look ONE way when they get to the STOP signs on Hervey St. I have seen it time and time again.

This needs to be a four-way stop. Period.

This problem has been reported for YEARS! NOTHING has been done EXCEPT to add a sign below the STOP sign that says something like cross traffic does not stop!! Great solution! When someone gets killed at that intersection and the city gets ANOTHER lawsuit, then MAYBE something will be done!
