and the city wants to put in some ramps at the cul de sacs....... do we never learn, give a challenge, and they will come........ was there a movie with that line..... most of the time, the skate area is a trash pit
There is no plan to put ramps at the cul de sac for skate boarders. There was a discussion on the possibility of a side walk cut out connecting the north most part of the parking lot to a path that leads to the walkway to the pavilion so people with disabilities had a clearer way to access the pavilion area of the park. That is something that was discussed but not something that is in the plan at this point. Our park attendants remove the garbage cans and other items that are being brought into the skate park and remind those skating that no obstacles are allowed on the skate park surface, as posted on the sign. If you have any further concerns please don't hesitate to contact the Parks and Recreation Office.
yes it was, cost was 50,000, it was brought up at the last P/R meeting, then all the council spoke about it at the last city council meeting.......... city eng, said what it would cost, so NOW your pretending, it was some thing that was IN motion??
Just let the kids skate and relax. Is it really bothering you that much that they want to use a table to have fun? If someone gets hurt, its the City's problem, they will get sued. Not you. And thank you to the City, for helping out the disabled with a ramp! Nice thought.
On top of that, not many cities have a FREE skate park for kids to go and have fun and it gives them something to do, gets them out of the house for exercise, and keeps them out of trouble. If that table wasn't in the skate park for them to jump over, they would be using it for graffiti, I'm sure. Or some other destructive way to pass the time.
Maybe the City should put more trash cans inside there for them to dump their trash as well - I don't see any trash cans in that area from your pictures.
there are enough patrols, and cameras........ another way, is shut it down for a day or more, till everyone learns, it is a city park, for all the citizens, not just the younger ones
P / R said no ramp......... its in writing up above....... also, the City, is the people, sir..... so if your old enough to pay taxes, you would be paying also...... the table was not part of the skate area, man added it, Man can take it away..... I for one did not know it was being used as an add on......... but I can believe it, now they will turn the the grandstands lengthwise, and start jumping at different levels, of the seating
patrols are pretty good, twice while I was having lunch, they were not looking for, good house keeping, looking for destruction........ it appears. there are cameras, they do come right over if they see some thing, not right
so I have notice...... all this special attention, fvor some thing, we didnt have to, before.
They have parents, they should be taught by example, and also at the Dinner Table, it is the ONLY TRASH in the whole park...... The Park attendant, in the Blue shirts, were hired basically because of the issues, city fathers knew they would trouble with.
We have not had any type of park attendant, since 1990's, I would guess.
This is another, expense , being wasted on, those that should know bettrer, I wonder if the Attendant, will give be there long.
No one has set out to minimize your concerns; the reality at play here is that there is only so much anyone can do about ANYTHING in life and the world around us. After all, there eventually comes a point where acceptance, however reluctant, may indeed serve as a beneficial substitute for banging one's head against the wall interminably.
so just give up, we pay people to take care of issues, they should be called out when that isnt done, kids should not be given test scores?, police should, just sit longer in their office, rather then go out and do their job?. you see a house being broken into, just let it go? Let the kids abuse what I pay for, I will not look the other way, we must always try to strive to pass the message , till the sponges, get the point, I DONT pay, so others can destroy, that is what at play here. Just this morning, taking rubbish out, I heard this very passive Mother scream, Kick arce, all the way to the car, and she also cont. till jr. got back from the curb. "no way are you driving " I heard, "until you learn" she apologized when she got back home, lol, dont need to, he has needed that for quite a while...... huray , can I buy you a coffee ...... that was done in front of other neighbors, Exactly what should be done up there, one neighbor is convinced, the area should be locked up, every time it is misused, till the real loyalist start policing themselves. dont get me started, on passiveness,
I'm sure everyone can understand your frustration and no one can possibly fault you for having those feelings. I for one get exasperated by the fact that the Pentagon spends well over a HALF TRILLION DOLLARS a year on useless, unworkable lethal gadgetry and unwarranted, unwanted military presences across the globe while our entire national infrastructure is ever more rapidly crumbling, our cities have become a decaying disgrace, our education system is failing us, homelessness is increasingly rampant and millions more people than ever before go to bad hungry every night in the supposed richest country in the history of the planet. There is something very, very wrong with this picture, but since the powers that be, safely and comfortably ensconced in their castles in the sky, are not affected by any of these real-world problems, nothing is about to change in regard to any one of these dire situations. The two complementary "golden rules" certainly apply here: he who has the gold makes the rules, and he who makes the rules has the gold. I think that since these macro-principles are forever by nature and design out of our control, as common folk we tend to attempt to assert whatever minute level of control and/or authority we think has in fact dribbled down to us and that as a result we are therefore even more frustrated when we find ourselves unable to bring even that small amount of hoped-for, or more likely and accurately imagined, influence to bear in any meaningful way and especially so to our satisfaction.

Where the road from Needham High comes out onto Kingsbury Street, there is a stretch of Kingsbury lasting approximately 30 to 50 feet where the pavement feels like a massive washboard when one drives over it. As a retired citizen I drive around town a lot and in comparison with everywhere else that I have occasion to go this is by far the worst section of road I encounter anywhere. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
yes, outside comments are not beneficial, they are done to incite trouble.

As noted above: If you have any additional questions or concerns please contact the City Parks and Recreation Department at 248-589-0334. Please CALL them.

this is not how this is suppose to work, not suppose to be closed till FIXED, NOT notified ....park and rec, does not want undo attention directed at her ..the whole reason for this type of set up, is to keep items from spilling out publicly . the picture I supplied, was taken last evening, 9/20 @ 6:32. and the skate area was open
