This stretch of I-75 service drive between I-696 and Gardenia both north- and southbound, but especially northbound, is the worst I've seen in the whole county, if not the whole metro Detroit area. And that's saying something. It's an embarrassment to anyone who lives near it. This stretch of road is almost rubble in some places. Instead of replacing the old concrete, they've haphazardly filled in the potholes and gaping cracks over and over again just turning it into a mess of bumps and ditches. Hazel Park had their section done a couple years ago, thankfully, but the worst now remains on the Madison Heights side of I-75. If you walk along it, you can get a good look at it and see how bad it really is. It would be funny if it didn't beat cars up so badly. Royal Oak and Ferndale have also neglected the western section going south around I-75/I-696 interchange. At what point do the government officials think it's bad enough to warrant replacement? It should have been done a decade ago.
