SGT RODRIGUEZ, IS IT POSSIBLE TO REQUIRE YALE TO POST A CAR ON CHAPEL ST DURING EVENTS? PERHAPS THEIR PRESENCE WOULD CURTAIL TRAFFIC ABUSE.

This has been going on for years. The SUV people also leave trash on our sidewalks and lawns (including foul baby diapers) and park in no-parking zones. I've never seen anyone ticketed. Most of these people are from Woodbridge, Bethany, Fairfield County and similar places. One SUV person told me he needs to get his kids out of New Haven ASAP because the city is too dangerous. Why can''t we have a patrol car at the intersections of Yale and Central with Chapel St as another reader suggested. AND ISSUE PARKING TICKETS.

Totally right. This is something that needs attention. Blatant disregard and disdain for the residents here manifests every weekend in various offenses that could and should be easily ticketed. Please do it.

Here we go again....the chapel street raceway opened bright and early for all of the lacrosse tournament parents! Its amazing to watch their blatant disregard for the fact that they are in a residential neighborhood. Today's event includes them speeding down Chapel Street (from Yale Avenue) and turning left on Central Ave only to find that Central Ave is closed to thru traffic. At this point they turn around and speed back up Chapel Street to get in line for parking at the Yale Ave entrance to the Yale Bowl. Yes-that's right! The same entrance they already drove past but were feeling too entitled to wait in line I guess. Is it too much to ask for New Haven Police to have a police car on Chapel Street? I'm not looking to ruin anyone's day by having them get a ticket but police presence alone may curb some of this speeding.

Yes - "Luxury SUV". Maybe high end Lexus, BMW, etc SUVs are normal for you but they signal to the average person the driver's sense of entitlement. "Hello - I belong to the 1%." Take a walk in the real world. The SUV parade, by the way, continues through that massive waste of taxpayer money, the tennis tournament. Thank goodness football is here - normal people driving normal cars.
