Just give them a citation. Then keep ticketing them until they pull permits and start construction. A meeting only delays action and continues the blight.
So why no update? Come on, their roof if falling apart, just give them a citation already, and keep doing it until they fix their roof. Just because the school district owns it, doesn't give them a licence to blight.
We met with a representative from the school district a couple of weeks ago. They were awarded an insurance claim and are getting bids now for the roof replacement.
Why did you wait until I asked a second time? Your job is to solve the problems AND report back to the citizens, the tax payers, that you did your job. Hiding behind the anonymous "Building Department Admin" title seems to make you snarky and rude.
The city really aught to be fining the school for ode violations at this point or tear this down and send them the bill. This has been years in the making and if they got an insurance claim should have been fixed by now.
It's been over a year (as reported on 2016-07-21) that "Building Department Admin" said the school district has been awarded an insurance claim and are getting bids for roof replacement. There has been no visible work done on the roof, and in fact it's getting much worse with the existing sheeting now hanging over the side of the building. It would be nice if the school district would prioritize the work since as it's been stated they've now been sitting on the insurance claim for over a year. It would be nice if they chose to be a good community citizen. Failing that, it would be nice if the City would force the school district to repair their property and not add to the blight.
Updates? Heh... Oh my, wouldn’t that be something. Using the Thompson (Beal) Block as local precedent, there will be no change (for the better) to this particular building for, ummmm, I’m guess at least 4 years.
Maybe all the complainees should contact the School District directly and tell them how personally unhappy you are with this and I'm sure they'll get right on it.
I think all the complainees should contact the school district directly and tell them how personally unhappy and frustrated the condition of their building makes them. I'm sure they'll get right on it. They need to hear your voices before they can act. This is probably what's holding everything up.
Perhaps the City also should be sued for hiding behind this ineffective app to avoid their responsibilities to the citizens? It's been three years now and obviously the reply about an insurance claim was a lie. Do you all want to continue paying a salary to someone who lies to you?
