609 Chicopee Street Chicopee, MA, 01013, USA - ChicopeeIt appears the water shutoff has sunken into the sidewalk, leaving a hole big enough to lose a shoe in. The two shutoffs south of that property are raised as a trip hazard.

Snow & Ice Issue Archived161 Meadow Street Chicopee, MA, 01013, USA - ChicopeeWith the first snowstorm, the problems continue. Again this year, on day 3 post storm, the sidewalk is still covered, just like last year, and the year before. This is on Meadow Street, 3 buildings away from the stop light at Grattan. Thousands of cars and a couple hundred pedestrians go by here every day. Its feet away from the PVTA bus stop. Our pedestrians shouldn't have to compete with traffic on an icy road. Can't we do anything to get these owners to be responsible before a pedestrian gets hit?

Overgrowth Archived161 Meadow St Chicopee, MA, 01013, USA - ChicopeeThe grass was cut about a month ago, days after I submitted the first complaint.
It has not been cut since, continuing the pattern of disinterest by the owner. Can't we, as a city, do something to stop these irresponsible slumlords? -
Tree Issue Archived123 Meadow St Chicopee, MA, 01013, USA - ChicopeeThere is a 50+ year tree, 40 feet tall, on CEL property nearly devoid of green. It overhangs the intersection.
A falling limb could be catastrophic to a vehicle stopped in traffic. -
Dead Animal Archived163 Meadow Street Chicopee, Massachusetts - ChicopeeDead raccoon or groundhog. One meadow near Elizabeth St corner. Thanks.

Trash in Yard Archived161 Meadow Street Chicopee, Massachusetts - ChicopeeTrouble with snow, then uncut grass. Now trash. What's next?

Other Archived161 Meadow Street Chicopee, Massachusetts - ChicopeeA particle board desk fell off a truck last week. It smashed in the middle of the road. We pushed it to the side so no cars would hit it. We can't just put it in the trash. A policeman doing traffic duty put it on the sidewalk on Thursday. Could the trash truck pick it up on Tuesday?

Overgrowth Archived161 Meadow Street Chicopee, Massachusetts - ChicopeeThis yard gets cut only when reported. It was reported last on 6/20 and was cut on 6/21. The same in May. Its been nearly 4 weeks again and its a mess again on a highly visible corner. Ignoring this problem property is a is a terrible example for the rest of investment property in the neighborhood. Isn't there anything we can do to get absentee landlords to follow the rules?

Overgrowth Archived161 Meadow Street Chicopee, Massachusetts - ChicopeeNon-owner occupied 2 family. Third Summer. I reported this address 3 times last year and again this May. It was cut Memorial Day weekend and not since. Weeds nearing 18". The bagged clippings from last time are still in the driveway.
If he doesn't get notified, it doesn't get cut. Can't we find a way to stop habitual offenders? Perhaps progressive fines for recurring reports. This property was cut only 6 times total in the last THREE YEARS. -
Overgrowth Archived161 Meadow Street Chicopee, MA - ChicopeeFor the third summer, since this house was sold, the grass is up to your knees. It was cut only 3 times a summer for the last two summers, only after complaints are filed. For the last 2 winters, there have been multiple snow complaints here. Its far cheaper for the owner to wait for a formal city complaint and even pay a fine than to pay to upkeep the property. What can we do to make them be better neighbors and follow the rules?

Snow & Ice Issue Archived161 Meadow Street Chicopee, Massachusetts - ChicopeeCorner lot on main drag. Non owner occupied. Handicapped resident next door has to walk in meadow street to catch the bus. Our blind neighbor as well This corner is the bus stop for Fairview Memorial. 2 storms this year. Not shoveled yet. Didn't shovel last year either. Isn't there anything that can be done before someone gets hurt.

Overgrowth Archived161 Meradow Street Chicopee, Massachusetts - ChicopeeNew owner this summer. Grass has not been cut in six weeks. It currently is over the top of the 4th step of the front entrance. The abutter cuts the grass to the front steps on the right side so his tenants have some visibility to the traffic on Meadow. The grass has been cut twice this summer. The last time in June. This sidewalk went unshoveled as well last winter. Please, make this new owner aware that Chicopee doesn't tolerate slum lords.
