This is especially a problem in neighborhoods where landlords rent out their houses but live out of town. I wish the city would crack down on this, but if they can't even clear the streets downtown why would they care about pedestrians in residential areas?

I fell on ice & sprained my ankle in East Rock 11 day ago. It was dark, and it was my fault for not paying attention. But this is just blatant disregard for the many people who have to walk on these sidewalks in east rock everyday. I pray someone doesnt fall & break a bone. And if they do, I hope they get reimbursed from the owners.

Slippery Sidelwalks, make a separate issue for this! The more people that complain & make their voices heard, the better

If you are injured the property owner is liable.
When is the city going to start issuing tickets? City officials please respond to these posts.

Please call Honda Smith at PW 203-946-7700 and ask her why this aren't enforced- you won't like the answer.

@ Just what was Honda's reply ? I've read and listened about this Honda , heard the person was a problematic employee for a very long time .Not sure if it's a he or a she , no offense..But a long festering city of new haven employee problem should be dealt with now

We been asking this question and the city does not write back. Maybe it is time for all of us to call public works 203 946-7700.

Try contacting the owner's of the property, let them know that you fell on their sidewalk and that you are preparing to sue them.

Maybe they have a negligent property manager, or an agreement, with a tenant, to keep the walk clear?
