The city sort of knows what is causing the pothole's re-occurrence - they just don't know how to fix it. Did you see all of the boards on the river side of the street flanking the stream? They think there is an underground stream that is causing shrinking and swelling under the road. They can patch and patch and patch, but every time the pavement 'moves' from the excessive moisture, it's going to break again. We finally got them to come out and at least start doing more research into the problem, but they still don't have an answer. My husband is in direct contact with the city about it (it's right in front of our house). We watch cars bounce through the hole or swerve to avoid it EVERY SINGLE DAY.

@ Anonymous. Call 311 immediately. Ask where to send your bill for your new tires. They will send you a claim form. Include a picture of the pothole with a ruler beside it. It will take months to get your money, but you shouldn't be out new tires because the City doesn't do its job.

This pothole on Cherokee has been reported several times and nothing has been done. You would think it would be less expensive for the City to repair the darn thing than to have to continue to pay for everyone's new tires. But hey, that would make sense wouldn't it?!

A young high school driver in front of me got a flat at this exact location on the way home from school on Tuesday afternoon. That's a total of 3 destroyed tires that we know of in the last 2 days.

AND my husband had to use his tractor to pull another driver out of the soggy ditch after they went over it. It's horrible. And the freezing / melting / freezing doesn't help.

Okay, it's time to call 12 On Your Side! Because nothing is going to get fixed until you get good and squeaky! Because the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

We could also take all the lingering sofas (on this site), put them over the offending pothole, and charge admission for movie night!

They were out last night refilling it, in the dark.
My husband talked to Howard Glenn, head engineer at DPU and to time grimes! Kathy graziano's assistant, to bring them both up to date on the three newer accidents / incidents... And he used the word liability. They don't like that word. They may have to close that part of Cherokee for awhile to dig up the road and install a new culvert... So be prepared. Just wanted you to know the "powers that be" are on it.

Why would they be upset? They have job security.
