Apparently every car parked on Eld St. has been ticketed for $30, Code 51. No posted or announced parking ban. What's the deal?

I would go ballistic. The crews who have been working on the poles in East Rock over the past couple of weeks have been terrible. On my street they've posted parking bans on both sides of entire streets for a week at a time, far in excess of the amount of the time that they were actually working on the poles in any one area. If you're not working on our poles until Tuesday, you don't need to post a parking ban for the entire street for an entire week. But at least we got notice, unlike these poor folks. *End Rant*

This is the email I sent out to the block watch group:
I just learned that a bunch of cars parked on Eld St received parking tickets. Further digging and I found out this:

1) there is some construction going on
2) The city posted signs THIS MORNING to not park

I asked them (Traffic and Parking) What if people went to work BEFORE the signs were posted and the cars were parked.

She told me that you should contest the ticket, and they will "take it under consideration."

I've already notified Doug Hausladen about this. I think it is outrageous that they did not give 24 hours notice of the ban. And if it was an emergency, how dare they give out tickets when people aren't home to do anything about it?!

There was signage posted on Eld at the time of issuance indicating "EMERGENCY ORDER NO PARKING THURSDAY" on both sides of the street, however upon further investigation of this issue we have determined that the amount of signs was inadequate and have proceeded to dismiss all No Parking citations issued on Eld related to this matter. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this discrepancy and encourage anyone with further questions or concerns to contact our office at (203)946-8076. Thank you for your help in this matter.
