I disagree. There are homes along this road, along this area, and people are required to cross the street to get their mail. Many people also use this stretch for jogging, bicycling, walking, and other exercising. Children also walk alongside the road, even when told not to :-/ Raising the speed limit will put all of us in more danger. Yes - tonight I was driving on Bird Pond and could not see ahead of me, due to the sun in my eyes. Two years ago, I almost ran over someone because of this. I try to be careful, but if the speed limit is raised, fewer people will take the necessary care. Thank you.

I agree with GreenDaisy...let's keep our streets safe, folks. If you're in that much of a hurry, leave a little earlier.

Thank you for reporting this issue. I will check with our Traffic Systems division regarding this. Most likely the sign is there to let motorists know that the speed limit is 40 mph and there is curve coming up. I will ask to see if the speed limit number under the curve sign should be a lower number, given the general speed limit is 40 mph and speed is usually reduced when going through a curve. I will report here what I find out from Traffic Systems.

I'm not suggesting to raise the speed limit back to 55 mph, but to have a 40 mph curve sign on a road that has been set to 40 mph is just stupid. The 40 mph curve sign should be removed or lowered!

Our Traffic Systems Division looked into this issue and they will remove the 40 mph sign underneath the curve sign and determine on Monday whether another type of speed advisory sign is needed in the area. The 40 mph sign under the curve sign should be removed by the end of the day. (1/31/14)
