Pothole again.
Repaired countless times before.
Really need to install a new culvert under this section of road.
DPW is presently opening a trench to the river on the north side of the road, however it is not draining and the road is holding water under the road bed 100% of the time.
As DPW knows this will be a recurring problem and an ICE HAZARD in winter on the road surface, until the water is permanently draining..
A+ for DPW efforts so far. You just need to keep the water draining away permanently!

We'll for the 15th time this section of road is failing again with even more potholes.
The city has patched, and patched, and patched. Trying hard though!
They even sent out a track hoe last month to divert the drainage, but that failed.
The street subsurface is water saturated, and the section of road is a wet mess, especially when it becomes an ICE SKATING RINK when frozen.
It does not take an engineer to recognize that a new culvert is needed under this section of road and new paving - preferably with concrete - other wise we'll be talking about patch #30 this time next year.
Can we do a permanent fix, and really be proactive? Is the director of Public Works aware of this situation? Has he been consulted?
If not. why not?

For the 16th time.
4-5 more potholes in the same place.
Is anyone listing in DPW management?
There is WATER STANDING IN THE POTHOLES 24/7.
Anyone older than elementary school age knows that you can't repair any pothole with standing water!
Can DPW management figure how to get rid of the water, then we can get rid of the potholes.
Make Sense?

Other complaints today about the problems on Cherokee. Call 12 On Your Side.
It's time to shame the City into doing its job!

On Thursday the city had a large crew addressing the multitude potholes at this location..
They cut out some of the old asphalt road surface with jack hammers.
Don;t know if they installed a new culvert pipe.
it seems that the new road surface might be gravel?
It's very unclear if they have finished this job.
If they are finished, it looks like new Richmond roads will be gravel. Could that be?
What happened to blacktop?
Are they coming back?
It's all unknown, but so far it's somewhat encouraging, but a messy job.

I'm sure they are not finished - they probably just wanted to make it 'safe' for now. Closing Cherokee to install a culvert will take days. They will have to get approval / give notice for that because of all of the detour signs involved.
I just hope today's storm doesn't wash away the gravel.....

they paved it Friday morning Hooray.
Let's pray they put in a new culvert and that the road surface stays dry, because if not, we'll be writing again!

@roversson. Thanks for update. You would think after three months it would have been done already given how problematic this area has been.
Cheaper to fix something small than something large. But oh, that would make SENSE!!!
