Aren't there statutes around how early work can begin? This should apply to yeah pick up as well. Today, I was awakened by loud trash collectors and trucks at 6:30 am. Couldn't this happen just a little bit later!

I've experienced loud noise from even earlier trans and recycling pickup (around 6am). It's definitely annoying, especially considering it occurs on a weekly basis.
This has been reported in other issues on this site (see here:http://www.seeclickfix.com/issues/38809)
This press release from the Mayor's Office talks about an ordinance that (supposedly) limits noise from 10pm to 7am (http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/Mayor/ReadMore.asp?ID={41FD0022-E2D7-498A-8B72-000D39BBBD4B})
There are exceptions to the ordinance, but it's unclear if trash collection is one of them.

Janna - trash collection may begin as early as 6am in all parts of the city except downtown&hospitals (as early as 5am).
i use a white noise machine to help aid in sleeping. i picked the trick up from my sibling who used it for their kids so that they would sleep through the night. if you have a portable one, it also creates the same environment you experience at home when you travel - perhaps that would help alleviate the problem?
