I wonder if the city really recycles the stuff they pick up, or if they throw it away, so that their garbage contractor "friends" don't lose any money on trash hauling? The trash haulers get paid by the ton, am I right? Might explain the allegedly "abysmal" recycling rate in New Haven... Half of the recycling falls out of the bins onto the streets anyway.

Read the Ordinance! It does not apply to City Trucks. Just another hypocritical New Haven thing. Private firms can not work those hours, but the City can. Like there is any difference in the amount of noise created by City Trucks!

Bring it up with your alderperson. If it's as clear-cut as you make it sound, then we should amend the ordinance…unless there's some legitimate reason why we might want the city to pick up recycling early in the morning.

There's no way to please everyone. If they waited and started at 7am, there would be seeclickfix complaints about recycling pickup during rush hour and during school pickup hours at the end of the school day. It's one day a week, versus if any company were permitted to work at that hour it would be daily.

I'm just glad they haul the stuff away, regardless of where it goes. Now we're complaining about people who do their jobs? Sucks if it wakes you up but earplugs are cheap.
