Wasn't that whole area supposed to be nicer after Walgreen's was built? What happened? And just what does the blight committee do anyhow? There's a serious eyesore up on Harwinton Avenue that's been there for the more than 20 years I've lived here and driven up that road to get home. You can't come off Rt 8 without seeing it, and can't travel up or down that portion of Harwinton Avenue without seeing it. The blight committee has done nothing,just like they'll do nothing with the old bowling lanes. They have no power. Who will they get money out of? Who will want the property? What would anyone do with it? It's been empty since the lanes shut down. The place on Harwinton Avenue has an owner, but they aren't getting anything from him,either. He's an old man with nothing. The city sure doesn't want the property.And neither does anyone else. It would cost a bundle to clean it up!! Yeah-the "blight committee"- that's a joke!!

Although the building remains a decrepit, rotting dump, I am thankful that the most accessible windows have been boarded up, thus preventing would be trespassers from potential injury. Now, the city needs to turn up the heat on the owner to renovate, demolish or sell!
