Description
The signal here gives pedestrians 15 seconds to cross what are effectively 7 lanes of traffic: 4 southbound lanes (incl. 1 parking lane) + 2 northbound lanes + 1 median strip. This is almost impossible for any but the fastest walkers (try it with small children), and seems unnecessary, particularly given how long it can take for lights to change at this intersection. Could this be changed?
Incidentally, this is true also for other intersections along State Street - e.g. State & Chapel, State & Grove.

Completely agree with this for this spot.
I also think ALL our city crossings are too short. We should try 60 seconds in all directions on every crossing downtown, like some of the more bike and walk-friendly cities in the US have.

But that's typical of New Haven. No one seems to be paying attention to anything, maintenance or policing. nothing gets done till there's a problem.
