Completely agree with this for this spot.

Yes agree. It's way to short, considering how long you have to wait to GET the walk signal. Also Chapel & State, Chapel & Church are long waits and short walk times. And yet at Church & Elm you get 54 seconds to cross, you can cross it 4 times. Plus when you do cross you need to watch for cars turning right on red when they should not be.
But that's typical of New Haven. No one seems to be paying attention to anything, maintenance or policing. nothing gets done till there's a problem.

60 seconds is extremely too long. Can we meet in the middle somewhere? unless somebody is chipping in for gas. Don't forget about pollution from Exhaust fumes too.

Vehicles do not release any more exhaust when they are stopped & they run more fuel efficiently at slower speeds.

By way of comparison, the signal at Congress and Cedar gives pedestrians 23 seconds to cross 4 lanes. That's very comfortable. It also cycles very frequently, so you never seem to have to wait more than a minute or so (although I haven't timed it precisely).
