There needs to be traffic calming measures instituted at this intersection. There was fatal crash two months ago and then yesterday another accident in the a.m. at about 7. Both Goffe and the Blvd are steep at the intersection and folks travel way too fast and try to beat the light.

I agree with the guest comment - this is a very dangerous intersection. Drivers, especially on the Blvd., are often driving 45 to 50 mph or faster and they appear to find the traffic light a nuisance - frequently one that they choose to ignore!

Why is it that Broadway at the shopping district and Elm as it runs through the Yale campus is once again being paved but this intersection at Goffe and Boulevard and many of the surrounding streets are a wreck? Most of the damage to Broadway and Elm has been created by Yale digging up the street for their college renovation. Is Yale picking up the tab?

Yale does pay (or more accurately, their contractors pay, who are in turn paid by Yale) when a street is cut. They can either pay the City for us to repair, or do the repair themselves - for instance, a section of Elm where Yale is paying for some work to happen between High and College is being skipped by the City's contractor and will be milled and paved on Yale's dime after their work is complete.

Broadway and most of Elm is mainly in need of a mill and pave because of the huge volume of traffic they support. Road cuts have factored in (less so for Broadway, but portion of Elm), but most of what is being addressed by this mill and pave is just road use related.

Please tell me what localized repair means.

'Localized repair" is a category for DPW's internal work system. It marks area for filling in potholes and leveling out the road surfaces.

We are closing older 2012-2016 "Pothole" issues in order to focus on current pothole issues. Many of the older issues were addressed through our Streets Division but were never closed.
