They're renovating the street, it helps if you pay attention to the many MANY articles in both the register citizen, and the republican american, as well as WFSB and other news outlets. This has been well publicized for the last two month

It also helps if you pay attention to what I was asking. NOT why is their road work going on, I know about the renovations. My company is involved with the prep for all this. I was asking about WHY the entire rd has to be closed to install curbing, and WHY the walks on BOTH side had to be ripped out at the same time!
And last I knew this has been in the works for over a year, not just the last 2 months

Same job but different part of it. I like how last Friday (10/8) everyone left for the weekend and left 1/2 of church St CLOSED! I went thru there about 4pm, the rd was closded from high street to water and they were just about packed up. About 515-530 my wife and I left, church St was STILL closed, no sign of any work or workers around. Went thru stop and shop to get around, NO one working the other end, nothing blocking the road. WTH?

Street improvement are continuing. These streets include Litchfield Street, Winthrop Street, Water Street and the western portion of Church Street. Traffic delays are expected during the paving operations.

Detours will be posted for the Water Street closure and drivers are asked to avoid these locations during the construction period.

Although lower Water Street looks complete the new light are not working. Upper Water Street, last I traveled, was paved from Church Street to the train tracks.

Just because you do not see workers does not mean they are not working. The last thing done each night is usually a sweeper goes by and sweeps up the debris and then they report the road. Perhaps they were fetching the sweeper.

A woman on her scooter was coming around the corner from Torringtonton Towers into the JC Penney plaza and tipped over onto the pavement. I got out of my car to help her up and she told me it has happened before because the sidewalk dips on a decline and is hard to meneuver the curb. PLEASE FIX before someone gets very hurt. I felt so bad for her.
