This is a state road and therefore this needs to be addressed to CT DOT. I will forward this request.

I've seen the crossing guard have to jump back on occasion for people not slowing down at all, even with him there. I hope the DOT takes care of this asap--certainly before the school year begins again.

What is being done? There is still no sign, cars continue to speed down Townsend Avenue and ignore the crosswalk. I have contacted Martin Looney (no response, who lives in the neighborhood), The Alderman, and anyone else who will listen. I noticed that East Rock had speed bumps, traffic circles, etc. put in to make the neighborhood more pedestrian friendly.... Why not THIS neighborhood?

Sorry -but where exactly do you mean? All of Townsend has become a speedway , especially since the circles were put on Woodward?

As you said, the entire street should be made more pedestrian friendly. I am referring to the crosswalk in front of Nathan Hale School.

You see my confusion because all of Townsend is now so very dangerous..
Because Townsend Ave is a state road, we need the cooperation of both Mr. Naclerio and Mr. DeCola, as well as Mr Looney and Mr. Megna. It took us YEARS to get a stop sign at Parker and Townsend , after one death and one near death plus countless accidents from speeders. Readers who follow this area of the Cove, start making phone calls and writing letters. We pay enough taxes here to have our voices heard.

I spoke directly to Mr. DeCola and have e-mailed and written to Martin Looney several times. I will try Megna and Naclerio as well. I think something like a traffic circle or speed bumps placed in strategic places (in front of Nathan Hale, on both ends of the seawall, etc) would be a huge benefit for residents.

SAFER CROSS WALK FOR OUR CHILDREN?

According to Chuck Harlow’s office at The State Department of Transportation, The City of New Haven was approved to install a flashing yellow light in front of Nathan Hale School that turned red when a pedestrian wanted to cross. This was conditional that the City of New Haven pay for the price of the construction.

Reclassified, but never addressed in any meaningful way. Nothing has improved.

Always the same issue. Speeding buses, no stop signs, little to no police presence, bus company tells everyone it's not an issue. I am putting up my own radar and video camera. Almost ran over a kid on a bike on Concord the other day. No speed signs marking speed limit. MOVE BUSES OFF RESIDENTIAL CONCORD. IT IS NOT A THRU STREET and there are never more than 2 people riding the bus day and night. They drive down with two people on the bus and go back Concord with two people on the bus. Waste of tax payer monies. Must be 12 buses a day with 2 people on them speeding down Concord. MOVE THAT BUS and cut the number of buses. Waste. Recatergorize this if you want. Or you could change it. Big tax base for the city in Morris Cove and on Townsend....not smart to ignore us.

Literally nothing has been done to resolve this. Our original complaint was in 2010. This ticket is eight years old. Very embarrassed and ashamed that the city/state I live in has so little regard for its taxpayers. Open a new ticket? I wrote this when my child was two old and he's coming up on 11. I'm disgusted.
