Woodbridge PD used to be much more vigilant about this type of thing.

The Woodbridge police ignore this very dangerous intersection. At very least they could ticket people who block the intersection or text while driving through it.

The driver who killed himself and a passenger at the Amity Mobil yesterday was on his way to Amity Road enroute to Ansonia. This means had he made the turn onto Amity he probably would never have slowed down until he got to the left on Center Road- and blown through the Lucy Street intersection light whether it was green or not..

Now that two people have died in a crash right down the street, perhaps these dangerous areas will be more carefully monitored.

tried to pull out onto Amity Road last week from a side street, but had to pause because a red light beater doing maybe 50 mph was barreling towards me. He actually GAVE ME the finger as he passed because I was partically out into the road. Had I not looked twice he would have t-boned my car. I panic when I see old folks trying to pull out.

There should NOT be a right turn on red allowed for traffic coming from Lucy Street onto Amity Road, they think they have the ultimate right of way and they pull out directly in front of the same morons trying to beat a light. Since I only exit on to Amity a few times per week and still witnes this much trouble- there has to be a ton of it going on.

I guess its going to take a very serious crash with death before a real solution is considered.

Last week- a morning at 7 am- I move to leave a side street in Woodbridge but take one more look left. Here, bearing down from the New Haven direction, at a speed I could not imagine- was a dump truck that had to be moving at 60 miles per hour. He didn't even slow down as he blew through the light. I tried to catch him but could not get moving as fast as he disappeared up Amity Road. Had I pulled out on to Amity Road as I had planned- he would have crushed my car. This sort of thing has become so regular we who live near the Lucy Street stop light don't even move until we've made sure no one is blowing through the light.
