This is one of the most densely populated streets in town with many children at risk. 3 accidents have occurred directly in front of my rental property while I was still living there. This has been going on for years. People in the neighborhood signed a petition several years ago offering several very reasonable options, all of which were denied. I also attended a couple of Safety Board meetings to address this, also several years ago, but to no avail. The police dept. promised to have a cruiser on Guilford St for one full week of 8-hr. shifts after the 2nd accident, but only showed up for one day. When reported, all police say it's happening all over town. That is a very lame response, considering lives and property are at stake. The police are supposed to be there to 'serve and protect'. I didn't feel served or protected and not only moved out of the neighborhood, but out of Torrington.
