Hello. I agree with the writer. (And, have also commented about this intersection previously.)

This intersection is positively dangerous. My wife and I cross here often with our child in a stroller. Cars routinely run the red light and we have nearly been injured on several occasions. Apparently drivers are oblivious to the presence of these signal. This form of traffic signal (HAWK) is absolutely unsuited to this location and appears poorly designed; e.g., at the instance the signal changes from blinking red (for drivers) to solid red, the walk signal is indicated. Again it appears that the majority of drivers are entirely unaware that blinking red means stop (and proceed if clear) in the first instance. The situation is similar on both sides of the intersection, however the presence of the bridge underpass and subsequent rise limits visibility on the downstream side.

A standard light signal should be implemented. This would at least indicate to drivers that there is actually an intersection when they pass the green light. A simple phasing from Green to Orange to solid Red would ensure that cars act as they (presumedly) do at every other set of lights; and it doesn't require a major reeducation effort on the part of drivers.

Again, I implore authorities to remedy this situation. I dread every crossing I make at this intersection, and I fear for the safety of my wife and child, and every other member of the public who uses this crossing.
