I want to know how many government officials, Island Grille owners and associates and customers of Island Grille would like it if somebody was pumping music into their living room and bedroom every weekend. NOT ONE I AM SURE. Only the most very rude and inconsiderate people would do this.

I completely agree with this complaint. I too live in this area and the Island Grille's LOUD entertainment is ruining my capability of enjoying my own living quarters. Its like having a boom box blasting music into my living room for hours on end without consideration whatsoever to the residents. It really has become a nuisance. When you call the Island Grille to complain about it, you get attitude. I feel this is disrespectful to the residents of Tierra Verde. I can guarantee they are in violation of noise ordinances and would be extremely surprised if they are not. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!

Ok, first of all when I spoke to Code Enforcement they said they do go out to check on these issues but it takes up to 3 weeks. Secondly I was told that the police would have an objective way of verifying if the code was indeed being violated. In other words that a decibel meter would be used to check and see if the Island Grille was violating the codes as written by Pinellas County but they did not. So if you are suggesting I call the police every weekend and insist that they go check the decibel level I am going to do that however I will assure them that you told me to do this. Lastly one would have to assume that the County of Pinellas created a Code Enforcement office to enforce codes rather than have the Code Enforcement office turf it back to the Mayor. Not only that, it took me roughly five calls to law enforcement before they figured out whose jurisdiction it was and also when I first contacted Code Enforcement they could not even locate the Island Grille in their system. So please tell me. WHO IS COMING OUT HERE WITH A DECIBLE METER TO VERIFY IF THE COUNTY CODE IS BEING VIOLATED AND WHEN PLEASE?

I'm am not closing this issue until somebody goes out to Island Grille with a decibel meter unannounced on a night they are blasting their junk and verifies if their in violation. Also I am assume that since they have a right to blast their noise as a citizen I can do the very same thing? Correct?

Also, when the police came out to check on the noise they encouraged a mature adult resolution to the problem. To me mature adults do not blast obnoxious noise into other peoples homes on a regular basis late at night. That is usually something drunken and obnoxious kids do. I am sure if it was drunk and obnoxious kids the police would have run them off but since somebody that does not live anywhere around here gave Island Grille a license to do this than it's OK?

Can any of these offices please confirm who will bring a decibel meter out to Island Grille and measure distances to residential dwellings to determine if they are in violation of the written codes which gives specific decibel and distance allowances. I already did call the Police and they went out there and said it was very loud but did not report a decibel level or measure any distances to my knowledge so there is no objective data to validate my complaint. The officer did say he asked them to turn it down but it did not seem to me that they did. The officer also said that we should seek an adult solution to the problem. From where I come from mature adults do not blast loud music through residential areas that reverberates through living rooms and bedrooms every weekend until late at night and some weeknights. If the Police do have decibel meters for these complaints and the Island Grille was not in violation why didn't he say so? He did say technically there is nothing we can do until 11pm but if that is the case why are there codes with specific decibel levels and distances? The Police if they are completely in charge of code violations should have taken decibel readings, measured the distance from them to me and came over to my place to hear just how obnoxious it is, which I did ask them to do. Not being funny here but it looks like nobody is exactly sure what they are doing. Did I mention when I first called the Police and Sheriffs Depts. that neither was sure of the jurisdiction and that when I called Code Enforcement they could not locate the Island Grille at all even though I provided the address. Then we have a situation where the Police actually do come out but completely neglected assessing the situation by code standards. That is why I am asking who checks the decibel levels and distances per code because it certainly was not the police whom you say is in charge of these things? Once again I am simply asking who brings the decibel meter, does the measurements and then confirms compliance for code standards? Which Office?

Noise Control:
Pinellas County uses a decibel-based noise control program that places maximum limits on noise allowed on a property. In residential areas between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., a noise level of 72dBA (decibels) is allowed. After 11 p.m., the allowable level is reduced to 55dBA. As an example, normal conversation between two people standing five feet apart would measure about 55dBA.

The above comes directly from the Pinellas County Code Enforcement web page. So if 55dBA is two people talking to each other five feet apart what exactly is the decibel level of music being played roughly 1000ft away that can be heard clearly and that can be heard clearly from inside a residence with the windows closed and television is on or ear plugs are in? And who exactly is going to objectively make this determination by scientifically not subjectively validating the decibel level? Please do not just turf this question. It should be pretty easy to answer. I would like to add that the Island Grille was CLEARLY permitted and built directly inside a residential area. The property is obviously zoned commercial but it's a residential area less than 500-1000ft 360 degrees around it. I'm really at a loss as to how the owners and city/county planners dropped the ball on this. The only logical explanation is they did not consider the residents of this formerly peaceful and enjoyable area. It would have been a lot more practical to set up for music and entertainment inside like a lot of fine and upstanding establishments do in Pinellas County.

LOLOLOL, The issue was acknowledged but apparently nobody is able to answer an extremely easy question. Code Enforcement and or the people that make the codes assuming they are one and the same are unable to in a clear and timely manner answer the very simple question of who is responsible for verifying if the perpetrator is indeed in violation of a code as it is written by the county. LOLOL!!! Sad but not surprising in these types of situations. Then for added insult to ones intellect the only one choice of correspondence is hard checked. AND now three to four weeks later they are saying it could take up to three to four weeks. So after multiple attempts with the County offices and law enforcement I am unable to even get a clear response as to what if anything will be done and in the mean time a very rude and obnoxious group of persons has been granted the right to turn my residence into a BOOM BOX, something the county and city should have considered long before any permitting was done. What a joke!!!

This is still a big problem here. You say you asked the Island Grille to comply and they are saying NO!!! They don't care what you or anybody else says because they are obnoxious, rude and selfish and do not care what residents think as long as they can get as many people drunk on the alcohol they sell to make a profit. Whatever the county thinks they have done to help they are being slapped in the face by Island Grille. Sure would be nice to see the county or city actually do something that reflects the wording in their own codes. I know it's difficult for you to understand because you can't hear it from your place and that also probably means you could care less. All I can say is N. Tierra Verde used to be a nice place to live and now it is a terrible disaster area. Strong Work!

I never closed this issue. You closed this issue on me. The problem has not been addressed in any way shape or form that complies with the wording within the codes. You should remove all citizen friendly psychobabble from the codes if you are not going to enforce it. This issues has not been addressed and it is not closed at all not even close, not even better in any way so whatever it is you think you have dove Island Grille is laughing at you.

I sincerely wish all of you could spend 3 to 5 days a week for months now with a boom box blasting through your property and into your homes. I 100% guarantee you would be extremely fed up and expecting your government to be more responsible. Read Chapter 11 Environmental Protection Article 1. - In General Sec. 11-48. - Scope from your own codes. There is no way that the Island Grille is remotely close to complying with that and there is no way that the County, City, Code Enforcement, Law Enforcement or Community Service is enforcing it. No way, not even close. This area of Tierra Verde is now an aquatic industrial park and entertainment complex - Residents Go Away and Shut Up. Not to mention the increase in noise from the marina alone. Total downward spiral for the hapless residents. Not really expecting anything from you as it is obvious this is not a big concern here in Pinellas Co. and St. Pete but it helps to vent.
