The traffic signal at Gorman/Western is one of the busier intersections within the city system. Unfortunately there's currently not enough lane capacity to adequately accommodate all the traffic. Typically as indicated on Google Maps traffic view, traffic in the evenings queues up significantly on all four directional approaches. Westbound traffic on Western Blvd often backs up to Pullen Rd. For the current PM peak timing plan at this intersection the northbound left turning movement is allocated about 25 seconds out of a 200 second cycle and the northbound thru movement is allocated about 35 seconds. If drivers are alert that should typically clear out at least 15 vehicles. The traffic signal system staff will take a closer look at this intersection to see what adjustments can be made to moderately improve the congestion.
