Property managers contacted and will take care of the litter and encroachment.

Will they evict the homeless person as well?

They trimmed the bushes already from encroaching over the sidewalk. Tomorrow they will clean up the property. They are aware of a homeless person in the bushes and will call the PD if trespassing continues.

Please do check it out. Part of the problem has changed. The upturned shopping cart has moved to the bushes near the entrance driveway along with a homeless person who appears to have taken up residence. Like most communities in the Bay Area Walnut Creek is not immune to this influx of homeless.

As I write this, the homeless man has moved back in. He is currently located at the entrance to the old Fresh Choice parking area. I see that a crew is currently working on the cleanup but they are ignoring the right side of the driveway. There is a couple of shopping carts, a clothes line between trees and scattered garbage in the bushes where the homeless person is sleeping.

Hope you can resolve this issue.

Officer Nichols is working on this issue with the property owner. A contractor has been to the location to clean up the site.

Transient removed from property yesterday.

Thank you very much. The gentleman that was there seemed to be very angry and was shouting and kicking at things that were not there.

He went to jail. I checked this again today and there is very little left over from him.

This morning, 4 shopping baskets are back on site all seemed to be full of garbage. Also beer bottles are stacked up against the former Fresh Choice building. It seems that more than one person has taking a liking to this location. I know it must be difficult to keep the homeless from returning but I want my new neighborhood to be clean and safe.

I have several photos but can only attach one per comment.

There were two shopping carts there this morning. That's why they are called transients. I will notify the property managers. Thanks

FYI, I drove by there last night and there was a homeless man hanging out behind the wall of the restaurant. So, expect that this issue isn't going to to away as they all seem to have realized this place is abandoned and a spot they can make home easily.

I talked to him yesterday morning. He was gone and area clean this morning.

I can understand how difficult the problem is. In some cases the problem is a city problem and sometimes it is a property owner problem. At about 12:15 this afternoon I snapped the attached picture. I counted 5 baskets full of homeless owner junk and one wheelbarrow full of garbage. if the property manager would just show up and take all the baskets and dump the contents in a dumpster maybe a message of disapproval would be sent. If possible, I would be glad to meet you or Tom and point out the stuff I am seeing each and every day.

Thanks for getting back to me on this matter. I realize that this is a difficult problem to deal with. I am not going to reopen the ticket but I do want to bring to your attention that two shopping carts full of garbage are now down the embankment of Tice Creek on the northwest side of S. Main St. I also understand the Terra Nova developers will be tearing down the building some time in the future. Perhaps that will eliminate the problem.
