Thank you for reporting this issue to the City of Portland using SeeClickFix. It has been received as service request ID #53612. Our staff will now begin their investigation.
I just drove up Congress Street and the UPP signs are back out at both Oak and Park streets! It was less than a week ago that city staff closed this issue because "the signs have been removed."
What is going on? Is UPP just blatantly choosing to ignore the directives of city staff? I hope enforcement will be swift and punitive action taken if they continue to break the law by putting signs on Congress Street.
This on is out of the walk path..been reading these comments for a while..I don't see the big deal, no one complained about the store signs on exchange St or on middle or market. I say get over it
They think they're above the law... First they try to impersonate the city with a sign that has a large white letter "P" on a blue background... to trick people into thinking that they are parking in a city owned garage or lot... Then the instate ridiculous terms of use, in fine print & poor lighting.... and the penalty for violating their terms is very severe... They are really just setting these "traps" all over town to catch tourists & out-of-towners and anyone they can off-guard... Someone needs to talk to them about where they set out their "bait"... which is what these signs really are...
The big blue and white P symbol is the sign for public parking. it does not mean and never meant that the parking is publicly owned or maintained or free. just that it's open to the public subject to the terms and conditions.
Why is this such an issue for you? Especially since you "drove" up Congress street. Lemme guess, you must've been ticketed/booted by them. Crybaby. Be a man, own up for your own mistakes and move on.
Geeks, what's the benefit of "tricking" people into parking in a city lot or garage? The city tickets and boots as well. And I hate to break it to you, but you should Google that infamous white "P" your upset about. It's actually the universal symbol for parking. Just like a handicap sign or stop sign. Do you get tricked into stopping at intersections too?
