Description
Repeat after me: being unhoused does not give you the right to defecate in public, sell drugs, steal private property, litter public parks, create structures without a permit, harass the public, trash our roads, use propane and risk causing a fire, drink publicly, amongst many other things.
Although not all homeless people are doing the above, the majority of them at these encampments are unfortunately suffering from mental illness, as well as drug and alcohol abuse, and do engage in these activities. By allowing these encampments to continue to exist you’re giving the middle finger to all of the law abiding tax payers of Portland, just in the name of a small minority.
Enough is enough. Our city is being destroyed by a small minority. We the people are tired and fed up with this. Residents are affected, businesses are affected, tourists are affected (and this will affect our tourism, make no mistake). Your current method hasn’t worked. BAN encampments like this one and find real solutions. Do not let them get to this level.
