Sorry, this did not actually map to a park so this is the first time I'm seeing the issue. The equipment was purchased with grant funds. The Hexadeck cost approximately 5,000 for this quantity. It is used as a base material to protect grass from heavy poles/equipment and to create a solid surface on an unleveled surface, especially good for mud. It has been used as part of setups for Arts & Ideas, Concerts on the Green and even graduation at Bowen field. It is often invisible to the users as it goes beneath larger structures. It was marketed as being a better solution than plywood and other type supports. For large scale installations it may be, but after the initial purchase we opted not to get the quantity necessary for decking entire areas (eg for the VIP concert areas, entire chair setups for graduations etc).

Okay, how about spending some money for a portable wood dance floor for the dancers in our community dancing on grass, gravel pavement causes injury to dancers hips, legs ankles.... dancing together with a partner requires a smooth flat wood surface,,,,

Thanks so much for explaining the Hexadeck operation. It's unfortunate this ticket was not noticed for 19 months. SeeClickFix offers many ways to be aware of and to stay updated on issues Perhaps it would help if you were to expand your "Watch Area" to include areas that are within a close proximity to the parks you direct. That's not the only way. The tools offered by SeeClickFix make it easy to manage tickets. You might want to contact New Haven SeeClickFix admin for advice.

The Parks Department does not produce events. There is only one event (which does not occur in a park) that has made a request for use. None of our large scale event partners have been renting such structures. To prioritize this request there would have to be considerable interest from event organizers.

This community, NH Parks Depertment or Event planners never provides a large wood based outdoor dance floor for social dancing..at musical events that actually perform dancable music, I have been trying for years to get you, The Park department to do something about this. it seem like you spend megabucks on all kinds of stuff but very little for social dancing........ why not?

So why doesn't NH Parks department have a large wood dance floor to put out at out door events... you have the stages, but no dance floor for the community...

Still the City is not caring properly for its population... New Haven's diversity all have a rich social dance heritage.... people need to dance together.... it is part of being human.. and necessary for healthy socialization....not to mention physical psycho/social health. People who do not dance, should not be involved in decisions concerning public social dancing for the comunity... Dancing on grass, on concrete, on pavement, on dirt.... is a discouragement to social dancing... people who do not dance think dancing alone together is all that is necessary, and you can do that on the grass!... which is ignorant. But dancing in all its diverse and cultural styles requires a wood dance floor and a canopy...... New England is so backward... no wonder why so many young people leave Connecticut for a better social life.

The City has large portable stages and they are used for musical performances.. they could easily have stored in them, a portable outdoor wood dance floor... Set Up the Stage layout the dance floor... so the New Haven Public can Dance.....

It looks like you are trying to incorporate common sense into our local government. I wish you the best of luck with that. I've been trying to do that for years. I'm sure Becky is doing the best she can do to make our city's parks the best they can be. I feel confident, one day she will learn how to search for SeeClickFix tickets which were created for New Haven Parks.

We could have one or two of these on the green for events, everyone protected from the sun and rain. Everyone including the stage entertainers and our people on a huge dance floor for social dancing.... For a lot less money than the City's corporate bling monstrosity.

One could have simultaneous performance schedules under tents happening at both ends of the green.. And art venders along the connecting side walks , and curb side food trucks around the green. This would be A true social and socializing event for New Haven.

Here is a 100 x 60 tent which can be rented.. Day 0, set up, day 1-2-3 your use, day 4 takedown,,
total cost $3000 .....

Million Dollar New Haven Bling, sit down and get fat, no provisions for New Haven residents to get up and dance, Why? Because those that plan this specticle are not dancers. they have no love or appreciation for it. There entire idea is to sit and watch....

Time now for a less expensive paradigm shift on the use of the New Haven Green for large scale community involved and participating events.. Stay tuned here for more examples of what could be... getting rid of the corporate bling..

The green could be better used at a lower cost creating more enjoyment, and less labor to set up.

Maybe now with the Pandemic ending social dancing on the green in New Haven will be reconsidered.
