Deskripsyon

There are two houses along this stretch of AJW that leave their garbage containers on the sidewalk all the time. 2309 and 2403 never remove their garbage containers from the sidewalk. We have to walk around these smelly things all the time. Garbage overflows into the street often and gets washed into the storm drains. 2403 has two cans, I believe one was a replacement for a broken container that was replaced but never picked up by the city.

Here it is Thursday, garbage pick up is on Monday. Trash cans still blocking the sidewalk, now with an old air filter thrown across the sidewalk as well. Note the can is full. By Sunday the trash will be overflowing onto the sidewalk. Again.

And note that you can see that 2403 still has both of their trash cans still blocking the sidewalk as well. I think one of these was a replacement for one that was reported broken over a year ago and never picked up. Same thing happened to me. It took two phone calls to get my broken one picked up.

It appears that the city did come around and put yellow notes on the garbage cans. These of course have fallen off unread; one is in the gutter while the other just joined the rest of the overflow trash around the can. Can the Green Team cite the city for littering? Meanwhile these still block the sidewalk...

I also would like an answer to Eptesicus's question. Can these residents be cited for littering or something? Certainly the ordinance about garbage cans being at the street no earlier than sunset before trash day and away from the street the same day, after collection, was made for instances such as this?

We have replaced the wheels on one of the carts. We have notified the homeowners (at both locations) of the policy regarding automated carts left on the curb. We will continue to monitor this area to ensure this doesn't continue to be an issue.

We have walked by the house since the last garbage pickup and the cans back by the houses. This makes for a much more pleasant walk. Thank you for taking care of this!
