Have you tried to contact a rescue? I'm not sure animal control can do anything about that.

Has anybody offered to help? Ansonia Nature Center won't take them. We'll drive them somewhere if somebody helps us find a rehabilitator.

Does anyone know what happened to these babies? West Haven Animal Clinic at 959 Campbell Avenue (203-361-3060) will take and rehabilitate them. Possums are excellent for the ecology, as they eat mice and slugs. They are valuable to have in any neighborhood. We arrived and all were gone. What happened to these baby possums?

A friend who lives across the street told us she saw uniformed Animal Control officers in front of that house about the right time. She thought they were looking for a stray dog so she didn't watch to see what they did. We assume NH Animal Control took the babies away. We hope they routinely turn little victims like these over to a rehabilitator. They certainly have access to resources that the rest of us don't usually have at our fingertips. The saints are the trained rehabilitators who generously accept and care for these critters! But thanks for your kind words.
Incidentally, people should know that possums do not get rabies (their body temperature is too low to support the virus) so a sick or injured possum is not rabid.
