The access to the beach at 88th Street was created for an access point for public safety vehicles and Town of Surfside vehicles to enter the hard-pack and beach areas in the southern end of the town. This access point was necessary as the previous access point was at 87th Terrace and it has been permanently closed due to the construction of a private condominium in Miami Beach.

The Surfside Police Department checks this area frequently but cannot assign personnel there on a full-time basis. When violators are observed they are either warned or a citation is issued depending on the circumstances.

The Town of Surfside Administration is evaluating alternative configurations for this beach access point. If these violations are observed by the public in the future it is best to immediately contact the Surfside Police Department non-emergency number at 305-861-4862, so an officer may be dispatched at the time of occurrence. The See Click Fix system is not monitored continuously, but the non-emergency number for the Surfside Police Department is monitored at all times.
