While further legislation may be necessary, it appears that the police need photos/info (especially where the bikes are kept) to be willing to do much about it.

I agree to some extent, although the NHPD has to actually COMPLY with the legislation, and that's another obstacle in the way right now. They have the laws backing their seizing and impounding the dirt bikes, but they've recently decided not to, so where does that leave us?

What's so frustrating is that we (or many of us) know who these idiots are--we know their names, addresses, have pics of their bikes, of them screaming down our streets--but it doesn't change a thing. They even announce their rides in advance, inviting others to come out and ride, but still, NOTHING.

This is crazy. They are tearing up our parks. First it was Fairmont Park and Quarry Park in the Heights, and now this, and in full view, in broad daylight and in public at Q Park. They are flaunting it, scoffing at us. These kids need to be stopped. If they are allowed to terrorize us doing whatever they want now, just imagine what they will grow up to be like. That looks like the dirtbike I see in the Heights, too, possibly kept at the red house at approx 83 Clifton St. (Google maps says it's #77-79.)There is also a white atv that I have often seen on the street kept in the garage of 20 1st Avenue. Can more people post addresses, names, descriptions, even license plates of pickup trucks that carry them?

We also saw dirt bike rider doing continuous loops around Quinnipiac River Park on Sunday late afternoon, young rider apparently in training, with an adult or older youth watching. He continued despite being told it was not legal. Paths are being eroded, danger to walkers... etc. etc. Not OK!

I hope these kids bikes get ruined in the Hurricane.

I will be closing dirt bike/ATV complaints that pre-date the conclusion of the police undercover operation (see www.newhavenindependent.org/index.php/archives/entry/9_arrested_in_dirt_bike_sting/). I do not expect the dirt bike/ATV issue to be completely solved, but it will be helpful to policing efforts to distinguish new reports from those before this recent operation.

Please open up new SCF issues as dirt bike/ATV issues re-occur.
