The manhole at this location is the opposite of a pothole. As your left side tires hit it, it catapults your car in the air. It's like a ramp for your vehicle to send your car upwards. If you drive to it's right to avoid it, you come close to park vehicles. If you drive to it's left to avoid it, you cross the double yellow lines, risking a head on collision.
