说明
In the last month I've spent almost $100 parking downtown. It's been fun going out to restaurants but it's a hassle finding parking, and it's expensive. I'm about ready to abandon downtown and stick to the burbs. I'll miss it but I now understand why people who don't have paid parking and good health avoid New Haven. My life was pretty good during the weeks I was injured and unable to walk significant distances from parking to where I wanted to go - I just stayed away from downtown - and most of the rest of New Haven.

$100 is the price of a casual dinner for two or a few drinks. Those of us who live here and pay taxes, unlike churches and universities, need the offset that parking fees provide.
Incidentally Uber works really well in New Haven. You can bounce around, not worry about DUI, and it will cost only slightly more than parking fees.
Enjoy dining in the suburbs. I'm sure you'll find the equivalent of places like Soul de Cuba, Da Legna, or Zinc all over.
