Opis
There has been a rash of bicycle thefts downtown and in Wooster Square lately (as there is every summer). My rear tire and gear set were stolen off my bike while locked to a bike rack for a short while on College Street. If you walk around downtown you can see all of the bikes that have been gutted and abandoned because of missing parts.
Not that the city can or will do anything, but I thought the issue should be represented here since it's so widespread.

That'll be the next step for me - theft-resistant bolts. I usually lock the frame and front wheel. My philosophy was that the u-lock was just "keeping honest people honest." It's a shame that you can't count on people to be honest.
I'll be using my ulock and additional chain for the future. The only reason my seat was still there was because it's ripped and a little ragged.

A report from July 14, 2015 from Yale Chief of Police Ronnell Higgins:
"I write to let you know that a robbery of a bike occurred this afternoon in the area of 80 Wall Street at approximately 3:00 PM. A [Yale] staff member observed a male attempting to steal a bike; she approached him in an attempt to stop him. A struggle occurred over the bike and the male was able to flee with it. No injuries were reported and the Yale police are investigating."
