Yes, very few use recycling bins, only 2 on my block and 2 on 11th, but we've had only one pickup.

This is a brand new program. Participation will improve as neighbors see us using it and get used to the schedule.

Why not be positive, use the bins and give the city suggestions for improvements. The landfill is filling up, the city has no choice, we must reduce waste being dumped.

The Bartlett Park Neighborhood Association will have an outreach program to help folks learn how to use recycling and benefit from it.

I have been recycling for the past 3 years with Waste Pro, two nice small bins, so I could hide them in my yard and they would pick up every Friday, I don't like these big ugly blue bins, and I had no choice

My husband had to pick up broken glass also and newspapers that didn't make it into truck, with the waste pro they got out of truck and picked up my bins,

I think people overloaded the cans because we had them so long. Stuff fell out. The city will deliver an extra can if needed.

Its not mandatory. I had the city remove those unsightly cans. I also have no desire to sort and wash my trash. This program was forced upon us with no input from the citizens. I will show my.displeasure at the polls.

The city charges a mandatory monthly fee for these bins, so NOTHING except my November Vote will change that... In the meantime, I use the bin to pick up leaves and other trash in my yard, then dump it into the larger black bin. We have local pickers that go through the trash can to pick out the aluminum etc, for some quick cash. Is it public record of how much the CITY gets from the Recycling company? Will the city council next year decide that if you have electricity the city will get a $5 fee for allowing Duke to operate here? And yes, they already get money from Duke for operating here. Go Ahead... Discuss.

Constance... Yes it is mandatory that you pay for recycling whether you use the bins or not.
Does the city in addition to your monthly fee ALSO get money from the recycling company... YES!
Do YOU have a choice in this? NO. Since these blue bins are not numbered, why not get 100 of your neighbors to roll their bins out in the middle of the street in front of city hall? The problem is that good people don't want to make waves. I have no idea if they will allow this comment to go through.
