Manager contacted. Possible removal of most of the razor wire or painting it to blend in with the building. It was also suggested the possibility of complainant planting trees or bushes to block the view.

I believe the city is responsible for the dead end space on Grande Corte. Are residents permitted to plant a tree there? It can possibly be fairly expensive to plant a tree tall enough to cover the razor wire at the height of the building. But as residents,
I understand the issue of preventing children from climbing on the roof but razor wire is not only unsightly it is dangerous. As a tax payer, we pay for police and city services to monitor and conduct community policing to prevent law breakers like "trespassers". I would suggest removing all the razor wire and possibly build up the structure so it cannot be climbed. Or build a fence so the children cannot access the structure. Or Have the city plant several tall trees to block the view. Was this razor wire solution sanctioned by the city?

I responded earlier so I apologize if this is a duplicate response. I do not believe that painting the razor wire is a viable solution. Was installing razor wire sanctioned by the City? Not only is it unsightly it is dangerous. Further if the library is experiencing trespassing to that level why weren't the police contacted to address the trespassing issue? Community policing should prevent that type of behavior not barbed razor wire.
As far as planting trees to block the view, that is costly for the citizens, however that dead end on Grande Corte is likely maintained by the city correct? Why not have the city plant trees? If not can you provide authorization for such planting?

Why not build up the structure or put barbed wire BELOW the fence line out of sight?
I am a homeowner in that neighborhood and it was noted on a recent appraisal as an item the declined the home value. As property tax payers, we should not experience a decline in home values due to a voluntary quick fix by library management.

There is no violation of City ordinances by the library. They were contacted and have taken these steps to prevent trespassers from gaining access to the roof of the main building. Any further follow ups you want to take should be made by contacting the County since the library is a County building.
