We have lived down Canner Street from this corner since 1965, and this SW Whitney/Canner drain problem has been an unresolved issue for decades. When I reported it several months ago, I received the same acknowledgement, but it does not appear that DPW has done anything. It appears that drainage at this corner needs to be completely re-engineered. BTW, this affect a major grade school pedestrian crossing, as well as a bus stop. Richard Snyder

This catch basin is on the emergency cleaning list. It has already been cleaned 2 or 3 times this year. The problem is that dead leaves are not fully cleared away from the large lots on Prospect Hill, and get washed down to Whitney Avenue year round. Highland, Huntington and East Rock have similar problems at their intersection with Whitney, though they don't block as badly as Canner.
