It would greatly increase the safety of our community if there was a crosswalk across Geary at Vessing or Creston. One of the advantages to living in this area is being within walking distance of many places. There are many families with kids living on both sides of Geary who's schooling or activities take them across Geary here frequently: PreSchool at Mary Janes, School at PHE and all it's special events, School at PHMS, Sports on the PHE and PHMS fields, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts at PHE, the Oak Park Christian Center and it's activities, The Larkey Private Swim Club, The Larkey Market (a popular spot for kids to get treats) and kids going to each others homes to hang out to name a few. Vessing is a feeder through PHE to Oak Park and 7-11, Safeway, PHMS and the Library too. It's very dangerous crossing Geary. The cars coming down Geary often travel at speeds above 45mph and it's difficult to find an opening with the traffic clear in both directions, especially at commute time. I've witnessed many dangerous crossings kids have made while in my car at the stop sign on Vessing. A proper crosswalk at this location would certainly help improve the safety for pedestrians significantly.
