Where the westbound lanes of East Third Street merges with East Fourth Street, traffic following the route of N.C. 16 must merge two lanes right to get to the ramp onto the ramp of John Belk Freeway I-277 outer loop. At the top of the ramp, N.C. 16 traffic must immediately merge two lanes left in order to stay on and follow N.C. 16. It's a traffic nightmare for drivers traveling from Waxhaw to the Newton Conover area The North Carolina Department of Transportation should consider rerouting N.C. 16 from the intersection of Providence and Queens, up Queens Road to East Morhead Street and then right on Kennelworth to get to John Belk Freeway I-277.

No this issue has not been fixed. This problem causes traffic snarles on I-277 near the 4th street entrance ramp. I reccommend that at the Queens Road intersection with Providence, NC 16 traffic be rerouted up Queens Road and up East Morhead Street and right on Kennalworth to I-277, NC 16 South traffic also has to merge two lanes right to get off at the 3rd and 4th street exit. NC 16 Traffic should go to the next exit and get off onto Stonewall to Kennalworth, and left on Morhead to Queens, to Providence Rd Southbound.

This issue has not been fixed yet. NC 16 traffic still has to merge two lanes right in just one block, and then merge two lanes left. NC 16 should be rerouted from the intersection of Providence and Queens, up Queens Road to Morhead, up East Morhead and right on Kenalworth, and Kenalworth up to I-277 outer loop.

This intersection is a nightmare if you go to CPCC and want to reach I277 with numerous close calls with cars merging into each other.

NC 16 needs to be rerouted up Queens Road, Up Moorhead, Right on Kennalworth, and get on I-277 from there. I also think that the on ramp from 4th street to I-277 needs to be closed and removed. It causes lots of congestion, and accidents with traffic merging against each other.

The way to fix this is simply changing signage. From the intersection of Queens and Providence, send NC 16 straight, up Queens Road to East Moorhead, right on Kenalworth Ave and get on I-277 from there. Especially during peak times, it's impossible for NC 16 drivers to merge two lanes right to get on I-277 outer loop from 4th Street. It's a cocamemmy way it''s currently set up. It also causes a lot of snarls where NC 16 and US-74 meet. NC 16 and US 74 are merging against each other and it's recipe for lot's of sideswipe collisions, which further snarl traffic.

N.C 16 has not been rerouted yet and it needs to be. It's a nightmare for out of towners. There are probably a lot of accidents where traffic must merge agains each other.

What are these people thinking? Traffic snarls where NC 16 and US 74 meet on the John Belk Freeway. It's because the traffic must merge against each other. I suspect there are lots of lane change accidents there too, there and on 4th street where NC 16 traffic has to merge two lanes right to get on the John Belk Freeway. It's especially hard for out of towners. This issue has been outstanding for ages. To fix this, the only thing that has to change is the signage. Whoever thought of it the way it is now, had a washer missing in his brain.

If this issue isn't fixed the way I think they should fix it, we'll continue to see lots of congestion and lane changing accidents on fourth street and on the John Belk Freeway. The problem isn't gonna get any better unless NC 16 is rerouted up Queens Road and Morhead Street, to Kennalworth to I-277. If it stays the same as it's been since 1981, it's gonna get worse. It's gonna get to be one of Charlotte's worst traffic headaches.

Why won't the state of North Carolina route NC 16 like I've suggested? What is with them? If the signage isn't changed to reroute NC 16, we're gonna continue to see lots of delays and lane changing accidents!

I have a new name for where the inbound side of third street merges into fourth street. The "NC 16 WEAVE". NC 16 Traffic must weave their way through heavy congestion in order to follow the route of NC 16. As I've said before, if the North Carolina DOT refuses to reroute NC 16 as I have suggested, it's never gonna get better. It's only gonna get worse with lots of congestion and side swipe collisions caused by having to make the abrupt lane change.

Nothing has been done to reroute NC 16 through Center City. The congestion and sideswipe collisions are only going to get worse, because those folks at the DOT are too stupid and arrogant to reroute NC 16 up Queens, Morhead, and Kennalworth. Their excuse is that they don't want to put trucks on Queens Road. I see that as stupid and arrogant as Bruce Ismay's decision for the Titanic to have one 16 standard lifeboats, and four collapsible dinkies. Queens is already a manor thoroughfare, I see no reason that trucks can't use it.

Still, to this day, nothing has been done. Nobody's even considered listening to my advice on rerouting NC-16. Apparently, these people care more about money than people's safety and traffic flow. One who'd only in it for the money, I say is stupid enough to try to read a book while driving. That's what texting and driving is equivilant to.

Still, nothing has happened! My dad says that the reason they won't listen to me on this issue is that they don't want to put trucks on Queens Road. But how about trucks trying to make that merge to the right, and then to the left? What are these people? Are they as stupid as Bruce Ismay?

FOR CRYING OUTLOUD!!!!! The only thing needed to fix this issue is CHANGING THE SIGNAGE!!!! How expensive is that?!?!??!?! I think a major factor in the fact that this issues hasn't been fixed, is that we've so far turned out three generations that grew up listening to "Gangster" Rap, which I think has a terrible influence on our society!!!!
