Contact your elected officials. I did, and just one more week (well, 8 days) later, DPW showed up today with two plows and a bobcat. They sprinkled some sand on top of a foot of compacted snow and ice. One of a half dozen specific issues I asked about was "solved." The system works!
I get that I can do all that. But isn't the whole point of this site is that the issue gets sent to the right city entity such as LCI, DPW, etc., the entity has notice of the issue and then can act upon it, and indicate as such on the site? I can call LCI or DPW or my alderwoman on my own.
I agree with you 100%. I wish this site worked too, but it clearly isn't. If you search for "snow related" there are 153 open issues, 145 acknowledged, and just 35 closed and 37 archived. It seems like it's all too easy for the right city entity to ignore an issue for a month.
So, what other option do we have other than to tell our elected officials that somebody needs to be accountable?
I have discovered a possible reason why a lot of the private property snow shoveling issues fail to get acknowledged on this site: LCI, the city agency charged w ensuring that private property ownners clear their sidewalks, is not wired into LCI yet. Therefore, issues here have to get filtered through other city entities such as DPW and then go to LCI.

Seriously, though, write to your neighborhood LCI representative, (http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/LCI/Administration/Staff.asp), write to your alder (http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/Aldermen/index.asp), write to the mayor (http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/Mayor/index.asp).
