No, what we need is a traffic unit that actually enforces (gasp!) traffic laws! What a concept, eh? Red light cameras are nothing but a money grab, so if you endorse them so highly, just run down to city hall and empty your pockets: the end result will be the same.

I'd like to see the j-walking bi-law passed. Too often on 15th street west and 2nd ave. north, I've had a green arrow to make a left turn south, and there is always a pedestrian sauntering across the street against the walk light. No only are they putting themselves in harms way, but they are creating a safety issue for turning traffice and those waiting 'impatiently' to proceed when their light gives them the go-ahead!

I don't think it's about endorcing red light cameras, it would maybe just get people to think twice before they run a red light and actually cause an accident because they are too impatient to wait for their turn!

If you don't run red lights you have nothing to worry about. We need them. Install them now.

Collisions went up over 70% in intersections where red light cameras were installed in Winnipeg a few years back. As a result, the cameras were removed. Common sense.

Red light cameras do not stop drunk drivers, check for outstanding warrants, or make sure drivers registrations and driver licenses are up to date. You need a real live police officer for that.

Red light cameras do, however, charge a hefty tax on inattentive drivers. We have many of those in PA, some of whome are the loudest complainers. I hear the city is broke, perhaps the red light cameras can help refill it's coffers.

and to Guest: Jay Walking is already covered under some laws. It has been illegal for many many years.

Saskatoon seems to be doing OK now with RedLightCameras. now that folks are educated.
